Festival and Tour Itinerary

Day 1, Thursday June 22, 2000 - NEW YORK - CASABLANCA
Depart New York for your international flight bound for Casablanca.

Day 2, Friday June 23 -  CASABLANCA, FEZ
Upon arrival at Casablanca airport and after formalities, transfer to Fez in a deluxe Motorcoach with A/C Check-in at your hotel .Afternoon at leisure, relax and acclimate. In the early evening orientation. Fez tour by night before going to Bab Mekina for the festival Grand Opening :9:30 p.m. Opening Ceremony at Bab Makina   Inaugural concert. Wilheminia Fernandez, (USA) Songs recital -Piano:Bruno Fontaine.

Day 3. Saturday June 24 - FEZ
After breakfast all day is free. Optional: Full day visit to historical city of Fez.  We will explore the largest and most authentic Medina in the entire glob. Our visit feature the mellah, the King's palace, the walking tour of the Medina, the fascinating walled city with its incredible maze of medieval twisting alleys, blind turns, mosques, fountains, workshops and every conceivable kind of market. Lunch at Moroccan restaurant at the Medina. Evening, program: 9:30 p.m. at Bab Makina, Rizwan & Muazan Mujahid Ali Khan, Kawwali music (Pakistan). In collaboration with Theatre de la Ville- Paris

Day 4, Sunday June 25 - FEZ
After breakfast, we will get ready for a full day of events:
11:00 am :Fes Medina at City Hall "Musique sacree et dialogues" by Jacque Attali
5:00 p.m. , Batha museum: Angelique Ionatos ( Greece)
" The cry of the Angels" by Mikis Theodorakis.
9:00 p.m.: Bab al Makina: Tekameli ( France) - Gypsy Religious Songs

Day 5, Monday June 26 - FEZ
10:30 am: City hall Aruna Sayeeram and ensemble with
Dominique Vellard Sacred medieval chants (Southern India).
9:30 p.m. At Bab al Makina Tekameli, spiritual Gitans chants (France).

Day 6, Tuesday June 27 - FEZ
Morning excursion to Volubilis for the Festival concert, the first Islamic city in Morocco.

Day 7,Wednesday June 28 - FEZ
All day at leisure. Evening: Festival events.
9:00 p.m.: at Bab Al Makina
1/ Karoline zaidine ( France) - Hassidic songs
2/Rabbin Haim Louk( USA) and Mohamed briouel Ensemble
( Morocco) the Jewish Arabic-andlusian tradition.

Day 8, Thursday June 29 - FEZ
11:00 am at Fes Medina City hall:
Lecture: " Ibn arabi et la conluence des deux mers" by Jaffar kansoussi
5:00 p.m. at Batha museum: Sacred chants (Algeria)
9:00 p.m.: Bab Al Makina: Loutfi Bouchnak ( Tunisia) songs and sacred music of the arab World

Day 9, Friday June 30 - FEZ - MARRAKESH
Transfer from Fez to Marrakesh. Overnight Marrakesh.

Day 10, Saturday July 01 - MARRAKESH
Day city tour.

Day 11, Sunday July 02 - MARRAKESH - CASABLANCA
Transfer from Marrakesh to Casablanca. Overnight in Casablanca.

Day 12, Monday July 03 -  CASABLANCA -  NEW YORK
Connect flight at Casablanca to New York (JFK) with a memorable trip of a life time

All the evening concerts are at Bab Makina (14th century King'spalace reception court).
The afternoon concerts are in the sumptuous Moorish Palace of Dar Bat'ha,
 except the Dervishes of Sarajevo concert will take place in the Roman ruins of Volubilis
 with Arc of Triumph(300 B.C.) as a backdrop.

Director of G.A.I.A., founder of Drums Around the World, leads various other tours to Mexico, Cuba, W. Africa, Turkey, Egypt & Jamaica.

Cost and Registration
Cost: $2450, incl. airfare from New York*, ground transportation,
