The Musical and Healing Traditions of Jamaica
Every January and November

Join us on an adventure journey into the heart and soul of a land of tropical splendor in the West Indies - Jamaica, one of the most natural beauty spot in the world. This trip is designed to connect you with the history and traditions of this enchanted isle. The uniqueness of this trip comes from our connecting to the native people and their natural teachings. We will enjoy the tropical sun while bathing in the beautiful Caribbean Sea, tropical waterfalls, and mineral springs. We’ll savor delicious natural foods and enjoy an array of water activities. Each trip will offer the opportunity
 to experience Jamaica, not as a tourist, but as a student of life.
 

Rule

Tour Itinerary

Day 1: Leave JFK, New York  to Kingston, Jamaica.
Travel to sunrise retreat at Robins Bay.
Check in followed by Caribbean supper, meeting the staff, and fire ceremony.

Day 2: Journey to beach and waterfall
8:30 AM - Breakfast
9:30 AM - Lecture by Dr. Z, Jamaican Geology, History
10:30 AM - Hike to Black Sand Beach and Kwaaman Falls.Pick wild fruit and learn wild plant field identification. Photo oppurtunities  and more (optional cavern tour)
6:30 PM - Caribbean Supper
9:00 PM - Drumming and bonfire onthe ocean point.

Day 3: Visit to rainforest and plant collecting
8:30 Breakfast
9:30 AM - Lecture by Dr. Z
10:30 Am - Day hike to Jamba’s Farm, Economic Botany lecture workshop,
 harvesting of traditional Jamaican foods,  hike through the Bush & Rainforest
to Tacky Falls in Islington, collect herbs & Bush for tea, late lunch at the falls
6:30 PM - Caribbean Supper
9:00 PM - Herbal tea on the ocean point with Jamba and friends.

Day 4: Free Day
8:00 AM Sunrise meditation
8:30 AM - Breakfast
9:30 AM - Lecture by Dr. Z
Free afternoon to explore, snorkel, sun
or attend lecture on the healing power of herbs
6:30 PM - Caribbean Supper
7:30 Slide/Video Show - Past EcoTours
9:00 PM - Free evening

Day 5: Island Tour
8:30 AM - Breakfast
9:30 AM - Lecture by Dr. Z
11:30 AM - Trip to Castleton Botanical Gardens,
Castleton, St. Mary - Curator Roy Lectures on Caribbean botany
4:30 PM - Free Afternoon to enjoy Sunset or do a Carving workshop with Jamba
6:30 PM - Caribbean Supper
7:30 PM - feast on the ocean point, late night snack

Day 6: Lecture and Consultations
8:30 AM - Breakfast
9:30 AM - Lecture by Dr. Z
11:00 AM - Free Afternoon
6:30 PM - Caribbean Supper
8:00 PM - Free evening

Day 7: Leave Jamaica to JFK, New York
8:30 AM - Breakfast
9:30 AM - Lecture by Dr. Z
11:00 AM - Check out
Noon - Kingston to New York

Rule

Cost of trip: $1390* U.S. which includes:                                                               
     - Round trip airfare to Kingston, JA, assuming you are traveling from JFK  International Airport.
         We will arrange price and booking if you are traveling from another location.
     - All ground transportation.
     - Room accommodations.
     - Group tours, local guide's wages, workshops, seminars, and cultural/ceremonial events
     - Two daily meals (breakfast and supper, with vegetarian option available) and   'midnite' snacks.

Terms and Conditions

- A $500 non-refundable deposit (unless trip is cancelled) is required a minimum of 45 days in advance. The 45 day minimum rule is at the discretion of EcoTours for Cures management.                                                                                                                 
- Balance of the trip: Due 30 days prior to departure date, or at the discretion of management.
                                                                                                            
- Cancellation policy: Except for the $500 deposit, the remainder of the fee is refundable. The airline ticket, if it has already been purchased in your name, is subject to the airline's refund/rebooking policy. Cancellations must be received in writing and both parties must confirm receipt of this written cancellation at least 3 weeks prior to the event.

- Accommodations: A cabin/cottage sanctuary on the Caribbean seashore known as Sunrise Retreat. This tranquil, pristine, and stunning tropical paradise is in North East Jamaica. Accommodations will be 2-4 per cabin, depending on the size of our group. Security and safety is excellent. Camping/tent facilities are also available and are less expensive than the cabins (call for details). There are bathrooms and showers in each cabin; with public showers and restrooms available for campers.

Detailed information on travel arrangements and an itemized packing list as well as a detailed itinerary of activities will be provided upon receipt of your deposit and registration form.

Prices may vary and are dependent on flight availability, inflation, dates of return, and season. We will apprise you of any changes before departure. This may require extra funds to be collected prior to departure date.
